Dragonfly Golf
Announced
We have two special Golf
Events this year to
raise money for the
children we send to camp
through Dragonfly
Forest.
The first event is on
Sunday evening July
24th, 2005 for Parent
caddies / Junior
players.
The second event will
be Monday, September
12th, 2005 as a Major
Sponsor Outing with a
shotgun start at 1pm.
Both events are at Gulph
Mills Golf Club, a
course that is a journey
through the history of
golf architecture.
Originally opened in
1919 as an extension of
the Merion Golf Club,
Gulph Mills boasts the
work of seven
internationally-renowned
golf architects,
including Donald Ross,
William Flynn, Perry
Maxwell and Robert Trent
Jones. The course and
club are truly one of
Philadelphia’s venerable
landscapes, and we are
fortunate to be among
its very limited guests.
The Dragonfly
Caddie/Junior Golf Event
is planned as a sponsor
receiving the privilege
of caddying for a Junior
of their choice. Each
Junior will play his/her
own ball in individual
tournaments of six,
nine, or twelve holes.
The player age ranges
will be from 8-14 (with
exceptions for younger
and older siblings,
double bag carrying
adults, grandparents,
etc.) with each
player finishing at
different times based on
the number of holes
played.
The tentative schedule
will be a 4pm
registration and an open
buffet until 5pm when we
begin Welcome remarks
and Event orientation.
At 5:30, the official
tournament starts, with
staggered finishing
times and staggered
award presentations. An
open dessert bar will
greet everyone at the
finish of their 6-9-12
hole groups. There will
be a rest area for the
caddie/sponsors, and
play areas for kid
games.
The Dragonfly Golf
Signature Event is for
serious players. The
format is roughly
planned as:
registration with
practice areas, Shotgun,
on-course snacks and
beverages and an open
bar reception. The day
will include your food,
greens and caddie/cart
fees, awards, gifts,
skill prizes, chances,
and boasting rights.
Corporate Sponsors will
be developed as a
package for both the
Dragonfly Caddie/Junior
and the Dragonfly Golf
Signature Event at Gulph
Mills and Dragonfly
Forest will offer
multiple ways to
participate.
You will not only enjoy
a wonderful day of golf,
but be supporting an
organization that
provides a camping
experience like no other
for kids with serious
illnesses. There are
very few opportunities
for ill children to
share time with peers
who innately understand
their challenges
in life. There are over
10,000 children in just
the Delaware Valley area
who are at a stage
of illness that
precludes them from
normal outdoor
activities
without frequent or
adjacent medical
attention. Dragonfly
Forest makes a week of
overnight camping a
reality for these kids.
Please put the date on
your calendar and come
out and play a game of
golf in their honor.
This will be a special
day at a special course
with special friends.
